TRANSGENDER SOLDIER PORTRAITS
As of 30 October 2017, 20 countries allowed transgender military personnel to serve openly. In 2014, the United Kingdom granted transgender people permission to serve openly in its military forces. Soldiery British Army Portraits, allowed me the opportunity to work with several Transgender Personnel. I was delighted to capture their portraits, especially WO2 Deborah Penny, who was the first Transgender British Soldier to serve in the front line. Her portrait was acquired by The National Portrait Gallery and also won the Portrait of Britain Prize in 2018.
